With regard to tray packing, clean production achieved through minimized contamination, reduced downtime, and lower maintenance is the ultimate goal. Tray packing is widely used in the food and beverage industry, where hygiene is paramount. Cardboard trays or wraparound boxes are typically applied to products before distribution to the point of sale.

Lubricant from standard OEM chains can contaminate the end product and the machine itself, resulting in lost batches and profit-impacting downtime while equipment is cleaned. Furthermore, food-grade chain lubricants are expensive. As a result, minimal lubrication—due to contamination or cost concerns—can increase wear on power transmission components.

Tsubaki recommends a Lambda solution: an internally lubricated chain specifically designed for carton tray packing and box folding machines. Requiring no external lubrication, the Lambda range eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming cleaning. In addition, expensive food-grade lubricants are no longer required due to the lubrication embedded within the chain itself. Internal lubrication cannot transfer to products, thereby eliminating contamination risk. It also reduces uneven wear and chain elongation, protecting machine efficiency and extending service life.
